Once you have made the important decision to implement a mapping solution for your website, the next step is to choose your mapping provider. There are several companies that offer server-based HTML5Maps for use on websites and intranet sites, however jQueryMaps is the industry leader for professional mapping solutions. We offer extensive cartography and highly customizable maps, capable of meeting the needs of even the most challenging projects and timelines. This article will explain the simple steps involved in starting your project.
To give you an idea of the time needed to get a project off the ground, we can usually start building your map after a quick 30 minute conversation and the final solution is usually completed and ready for installation after 3-5 business days. Here is a quick overview of the steps:
Tell us about your project in a zero commitment 30 minute consultation. We can provide you with suggestions based on our experience.
We will generate an internal project file with all of the specifications for your map. Just tell us if you want the map to read from a database or work with XML files.
Based on our discussion we will generate an invoice for approval, listing all of the project details and itemized costs.
If you would like, send us some sample data to make the project real. The more information we can include, the more realistic the prototype will be.
Get to work! We will start building your map and present a live prototype within 3-5 business days.
Once complete, you can take advantage of 2hrs of technical support with two rounds of revisions included with every project. Let us know how to make the prototype even better for your website.
Download. We will compile the files for delivery as a download link in an email. You can then install the map on your servers or give us access to do this for you.
Test and launch. As you test the map in beta, we will be available to support and answer any technical questions that may come up.
I. The first step is probably the most important. Since every project is unique, we enjoy hearing about your particular needs and vision for how your map should be built. Our experienced project managers can offer advice and present the solutions that will work best for you. Let us know all about the data you would like to show and what actions he map should make when areas and markers are selected. We have plenty of internal samples that can be introduced as reference to help guide the call.
II. Based on this initial conversation, we will create a file for your project outlining the major points for development. All you really need to do is confirm the backend database to be used (if any) and the domain for your project. We will take care of completing the rest of the document for internal processing.
III. Once we understand your requirements, we will generate an invoice that clearly outlines the one-time costs involved in licensing and creating your map. The invoice will be delivered immediately and we can discuss any questions you have prior to purchase. At this point, we will confirm a delivery date between 3-5 business days for standard projects.
IV. If you have data that you would like to use, feel free to send it to us in an Excel sheet, XML file, database export or CSV file. We will integrate the data in your first prototype to make the map more real. If you don’t have any data, don’t worry, we will prepare the structure and the data can be added easily on your end in the future.
V. Go time! We will start work on developing your unique and compelling map project.
VI. The prototype will be ready within 3-5 business days and we will send you a link to view the map live from our servers. The map will have all of the functionality and data that you requested. Take your time reviewing the project as you have two rounds of revisions of up to 2hrs to make sure the final product works exactly as expected. There isn’t any rush, so the prototype links can be shared internally or with other departments as needed.
VII. Once the final prototype is approved, we will compile the map files and deliver the entire project as a download link in an email. You can then extract the files and upload them to your servers to install the map on your end. If you prefer, we can also install the map for you.
VIII. The map may go live immediately or you may work through a series of beta/test environments prior to launch. Take your time reviewing the system and let us know if you have any questions. We will provide support throughout the entire cycle of the project so let us know if we can help.
Most important…enjoy! Be sure to show off the latest enhancement to your website or intranet site. We look forward to your feedback and pride ourselves in your project’s success.
